ABOUT SPECTRATECH WATER BASED INKS

SPECTRATECH water based ink is a patented photo polymer vehicle suspending the same type of pigments used by printers. Each color contains a light sensitive agent. When a Spectratech color coating is exposed with a film negative to ultra- violet light, the image area will then harden. The photo polymer base is extremely efficient, allowing for incredible image resolution with little to no variation in exposure time, even for black! What is even more appealing is that SPECTRATECH water base inks require no special equipment, exposure units or substrates. The colors are designed to coat with a standard #11 coating rod and are developed with tap water. Colors mix easily to match popular mixing systems so that custom colors are realistic and accurate. SPECTRATECH Water Based images have been effectively combined with many other mediums.

REASONS TO USE SPECTRATECH WATER BASED INKS

Much of today's design work is being done electronically. Unlike the old methods of keyline, paste-up and camera work, an electronic page contains all of the graphic elements in a single file which can be output directly to film or plate. Examining the job on screen is not sufficient due to the differences between transmitted light (computer monitors) and reflected light (printing). Most digital printing, dye sublimation, and color laser output is sufficient for general viewing purposes, but has severe limitations in terms of resolution, color accuracy, and printing surface capabilities. The only way to visualize the appearance of "wet ink"on actual printing stock is a liquid, direct proofing system. SPECTRATECH Water Base is the most flexible and reliable system yet devised for the prediction of both 4-Color and Spot Color jobs and is capable of being combined with most conventional 4-Color proofing systems. Water based, dry rub-off transfers, can also be produced for very difficult printing surfaces.

FLUORESCENTS

Spectratech water based fluorescents are a special, concentrated formulation. The clean, concentrated base color is added to Photo Clear in order to activate it for imaging. At a simple one to one ratio of fluorescent concentrate with Photo Clear, the resulting brilliant color will closely match a clean version of the popular mixing system. This method of producing high resolution, fluorescent imaging allows the technician more latitude in matching custom colors, provides the option of producing more intense colors and will allow a greater control of shelf life. Spectratech fluorescents have shown to be capable of the finest resolution and develop with a water spray leaving no stain. Instructions on imaging and matching basic colors are available.

METALPROOF METALLICS

SPECTRATECH WATERBASE 2X COLORS

Double Density Colors

Matching a particular color within a mixing system sometimes calls for a brilliant color with more "punch"or saturation than the formula calls for. New Spectratech Double Density or "2X"colors will be a valuable aid to matching strong or custom colors. The 2X colors will give the technician a strong, activated (sensitized) and balanced color to start with or add into a mix.
Spectratech 2X colors can also be used straight from the bottle to produce images of vibrant color in one coating from a #11 gauge-coating rod. They are close matched to the coated or gloss versions of the formula guides and represent what is often termed in printing as a double pass or double print of a given color. SEALERS for SPECTRATECH INKS

HI-REZ SEALER

Hi-Rez Sealer must be used to prepare substrates to accept water based ink. Coat with adhesive rod and remove with HR Solvent or Hi-Rez Developer. Hi-Rez Sealer can be applied directly to OPTISLICK to create fine detail multi-color transfers or used as a protective layer for the CC Adhesive method.

HI-REZ TRANSFER LACQUER

Specially formulated to provide a transfer layer so that water based inks can be imaged onto High-Gloss/ Semi-Gloss Transfer Bases or Foil Transfer Sheets.

SPECTRATECH COLOR MIXING SERVICES

Custom Color Mixing Service - Spectratech water based inks
Custom matched colors are available upon request. For an added $40.00 mixing charge we will mix any PMS numbered color to our most current formula guide, 8-oz. minimum. Allow us a 48-hour turnaround time before shipping. Larger quantities can save time & money in that we will mix them at the same charge.

For custom, unique color mixing please provide us with a color swatch you want matched, preferably drawn on a coating of clear Hi Rez Sealer, on 80# Cover Enamel or a medium weight Kimdura. If the swatch is on a special substrate we will need a small amount of that substrate (9 x 12 at least). Once we have established a formula for a custom color we can match that color consistently through the use of our spectrophotometer and densitometer. If a color uses 2X inks (Double Density) to reach a match, it is sold at that price plus the mixing charge. All Spectratech custom matched inks include the proper amount of photo initiator, are viscosity-balanced and ready to use.
